Student Stories
Nicholas from Canada
Nicholas Sills, 26, from Canada studies for a master’s degree in Wood Technology at the University of Applied Sciences Rosenheim. “I’ve always wanted to see as much of the world as possible,” he says. “Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences is world-renowned for its wood technology programmes. It was fairly obvious I would choose to do part of my master’s here, once the opportunity arose.” After finishing his degree course, Nicholas wants to use his knowledge and skills “to design and build beautiful, cost-effective and adaptable buildings”.
The Canadian student highly enjoys the community atmosphere at his university and also loves its location. “The Alps are only roughly 25 minutes south of town”, he explains. He makes good use of this proximity to the mountains by skiing, hiking and ski touring as much as possible in his spare time.
“Bavaria is an amazing place and I hope everyone from home comes to visit me,” Nicholas says. His favourite things about Bavaria are “the people, culture and overall atmosphere.”
Nicholas' advice for other international students who would like to study in Bavaria: “Learn as much German as you can!”
