As a university of applied sciences and arts, it is a fairly new type of academic institution, which differs from traditional research universities mainly in its practical orientation. Its goal is to convey scientific knowledge with specific emphasis on practical applications. A family atmosphere and short distances on campus and into the city make studying in Coburg very personal.

Coburg

The former ducal residence of Coburg, a comparatively small city, boasts a wealth of historic architecture amidst lush and varied scenic surroundings. With its 41.000 inhabitants it is an ideal location for students who wish to experience a high quality of life and excellent learning conditions in a friendly and cosy atmosphere.

It never gets boring here: For those interested in culture, there are many different attractions, such as the historic theatre or the many museums, exhibitions and castles around the city. Important historical monuments dominate the old town with its homely squares and a unique parkland connects the town centre with one of Germany’s most beautiful castles – the Veste Coburg.

In the evening the small bars and cafés offer live music or even comedy programmes. The city is famous for its fried sausage – The Coburger Bratwurst - and a legendary samba-festival; every summer around 2.200 dancers turn the city center into a colourful area of joy and celebration.

In addition to its cultural attractions, Coburg is also an important business location. Coburg University offers students many opportunities to network with national and international com-panies, manufacturers and suppliers.
