(Residents’ Registration Office)
All residents in Germany have to register their address at the “Einwohnermeldeamt”. The registration must take place within the first seven days of finding accommodation in Germany. If you move to a new city within Germany, you need to re-register. Registration is only possible with a permanent address (youth hostel or hotel addresses are not accepted). You can find the address of your local “Einwohnermeldeamt” on the official website of your city or district.
