The Studierendenwerke (Student Services Associations) will help you in your everyday life
The Studierendenwerke will help you cope with your student life. These institutions are there to assist students of state universities, and for that reason they offer numerous advisory and support services. The staff will be glad to assist you, whether you need help regarding apartment-hunting, financial support or childcare. Furthermore, you will find many gratuitous advising offers (legal advice, psychological consultation and social counselling), which will help you study successfully!
The Studierendenwerke also run canteens, where you can eat meals at a very affordable price. Did you know that the Studierendenwerke also offer many cultural activities, and even provide special programmes for international students? Excursions and intercultural workshops will make your first weeks at the new university a lot easier, and help you find friends quickly.
Check the respective websites of the Bavarian Studierendenwerke for special service packages (example for a service package: a room in a hall of residence & welcoming package & tutorial programmes & health insurance) specially created for international students at great value for money. These packages are specially designed to help young people who come to Germany for the first time.
