Academic excellence

Founded in 1994, we are a modern, multi-award-winning and excellently equipped university offering undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses designed around the demands of national and global business and commerce. We strive for academic excellence and indeed rank among the best universities of applied sciences in Germany.

The choices

Our student population of almost 8.400, including 41% international students, study a range of degree courses taught in English or German. Our studies are focused on Business, Engineering, Digitalisation and Healthcare to undergraduate and postgraduate level in full-time and part-time courses, taught in either English or German. All courses meet international quality standards. Three teaching campus accommodate all students: in addition to the main campus in Deggendorf, the European Campus Rottal-Inn is our campus, specialising in international bachelor and master degrees in Healthcare and Engineering that are instructed exclusively in English and also our Campus in Cham, which focuses on degrees in Engineering.

We are committed to producing global graduates with international degrees: 200 partner universities around the world provide students with many opportunities to gain experience and earn credits towards their degree through foreign exchange semesters, internships and double-degree studies abroad. In fact, all undergraduate degrees include a compulsory internship semester which can be undertaken either locally or abroad.

Teaching campuses

Students are distributed throughout eight faculties on two campuses. The main campus in Deggendorf has a large range of degree programmes instructed in either English or German. At the European Campus Rottal-Inn, all students are taught exclusively in English (with international students attending German lessons). Campus Cham is our newest and most compact campus with around 400 students, from 20 different nations. Both Master's programmes are taught completely in English, students benefit from intensive personal supervision in small study groups. The campus has a close relationship with regional and national companies in the field of mechatronics, so students learn equally in an applied and scientific way.

We consider a great lifestyle to be an important factor for the well-being of our students. They are supported with many facilities, such as a range of student clubs, an extensive sports programme, and a competent and always helpful International Office, Career Service and Child Care Centre. We host many students’ events, including campus and music festivals annually each summer.

All faculties, workshops and service centres for our students are based in, on and around our campus, creating an open, friendly and communicative environment among staff, students and teaching staff.

Newly built, self-contained student apartment blocks are within close walking or biking proximity to campus. Come and join our pioneering and vibrant university community.

The town of Deggendorf

The beautiful town of Deggendorf has a population of 40,000 and is located on the banks of the River Danube. It‘s a charming location at the foot of the Bavarian mountains, just north of Munich and close to the Austrian border and the Alps. Munich international airport is one hour’s drive away and can easily be accessed by public transport.

Our students enjoy vibrant social lives as Deggendorf has plenty to offer. The town has a great variety of restaurants, cafes and pubs, plus many cultural festivals and events. It has an excellent network of bike trails, leisure cruise ships on the river Danube and a surrounding hilly landscape that provides a stunning natural backdrop to enjoy the countless recreational activities on offer.

The town of Pfarrkichen

The European Campus Rottal-Inn is nestled in the town of Pfarrkirchen among rolling, picturesque hills between the Danube and Inn rivers, close to the Austrian border and near to the large, cosmopolitan cities of Munich and Salzburg.

Pfarrkirchen has become culturally renowned in the area due to its exceptional art exhibitions, museum nights, festivals and events throughout the year. In summer, the old town festival tempts thousands of visitors with its multicultural culinary and musical events. All year round, students enjoy the relaxed Bavarian atmosphere in local cafés, restaurants and markets in the traditional town square. The surrounding beautiful Rott Valley has a huge range of appealing leisure activities, being well-known for its spas, golf courses, equestrian sports and extensive bike network.

The town of Cham

Cham offers a unique atmosphere. Located directly on the banks of the river Regen in southeast Germany, students can complete their studies, relax and socialise in a scenic riverside environment with only 10 minutes walk to the town centre. Cham is a lively country town with moderate living costs, hosting many leisure and cultural events. It is located in the stunning Bavarian Forest, which together with the Bohemian Forest, forms the largest contiguous forest mountain range in Central Europe.
